The Backyard's Swallow Wall Mount Nestbox - 1 3/8"
A 5"x5" diameter nest box for use by swallows, as well as chickadees, wrens, and nuthatches. You may also get House Sparrows nesting in this box if they're in your area.
The entrance hole is roughly 5" above the floor of the box and is 1 3/8" in diameter to help keep predators out and larger birds from taking over the box. Note the lack of perch, which also helps deter potential predators while still allowing the nesting birds inside. House Sparrows, an invasive species, are still able to access this box if you have a population, though they can be deterred by switching to an oval entrance hole.
Nest boxes should be placed in a fairly shady location, out of direct sun as much as possible. These birds like to be in open areas to allow them to swoop in and out of the box easily.
Hang boxes roughly 6 feet off the ground, around 6 to 10 feet away from any bird feeders. If you can't space it that far, make sure the entrance hole is turned away from any nearby feeders.
All Backyard cedar nest boxes have an easy access front that hinges up for easy cleaning during the winter, once nesting is complete.
