Guided Bird Walks

Our guided bird walks are running on Tuesday and Sunday mornings. For up to date information on where we are going each week, what’s been seen recently, and for knowing when walks have been canceled, visit our blog or subscribe to our mailing list. Our next walk locations will be located at the bottom of our most recent Backyard Bird Report.

We have been hosting weekly bird walks for over 20 years in the Nanaimo area of Vancouver Island. Our walks are scheduled for Sundays (Nanaimo) and Tuesdays (Parksville/Qualicum), and we post all scheduling information on our blog. You can also subscribe to our weekly birding emails for information on what ‘s been seen and where the walks are going.
The Sunday Bird Walk leaves the Birdstore at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings. The Parksville/Qualicum Beach Tuesday Bird Walk meet up location has changed. We now meet at the Parksville Tourist Information Center parking lot by Highway 19, Northwest Bay Rd. and Franklin’s Gull Rd. in Parksville at 9 a.m.
The bird walks are not held during the summer months (July and August) but resume the first Tuesday and Sunday of September.
Bird walks are free, open to the public, and are designed to conclude before lunch (averaging approximately three hours). Binoculars and an identification book are recommended to get the best experience.

Please note: We decide on the location of each bird walk the week before the scheduled outing. During the week we compile information about what birds are being seen and examine the weather forecast to ensure the walk is scheduled for the most productive location. Our next bird walk locations can be found at the bottom of our most recent Backyard Bird Report on our blog and is usually posted by Wednesday or Thursday.
