Upside down suet feeders help deter birds that don't hang very well, like starlings. Birds you want visiting your suet, such as bushtits, woodpeckers, chickadees, and nuthatches, have no problem clinging upside down and can continue to use this feeder.

We recommend starting with this suet feeder hanging at an angle, so the suet is still visible from the side. This allows the birds to find it still, and after a little while you can transition to fully upside down.
