Pileated Woodpeckers are our largest native woodpecker. They nest in large cavities they excavate themselves, and dig rectangular holes in trees in search of ants. Other birds can be attracted to the excavated holes in search of a snack as well.

Pileated can come to backyard feeders in search of suet, sunflower seeds, and peanuts.
