Hang above your hummingbird feeder and fill between 1/2 and 3/4 with water. In particularly warm weather, a small amount of cooking oil can be added to help slow down evaporation. Red cup is 1 3/4" by 3".
Ant moats can also be used as temporary water sources for small birds like nuthatches, who do enjoy drinking out of them on occasion.
